Musculoskeletal images. Clavicular soft-tissue mass.

چکیده
a mass in the anterior part of his right shoulder. Examination revealed a well-circumscribed lesion over the central one-third of the right clavicle, measuring approximately 8 × 7 cm. The mass was firm, nonpulsatile and immobile, appearing to be contiguous with, and fixed to, the clavicle. A plain radiograph of the clavicle is shown in Fig. 1 and a representative magnetic resonance image in Fig. 2. At operation, careful dissection revealed a cystic bluish mass with an extremely thin shell over overlying bone and periosteum (Fig. 3). The lesion was aspirated with a hypodermic syringe, and the lining was noted to collapse away from the surrounding bone. The lesion was entered and curettage done quickly to control bleeding. The periosteum was closed once hemostasis was ensured. The specimen was sent for pathological examination and culture. The term aneurysmal bone cyst was popularized by Jaffe and LichtSurgical Images Imagier chirurgical

MR imaging of the musculoskeletal soft tissue mass: is heterogeneity a sign of malignancy?
BACKGROUND Magnetic resonance (MR) is considered the imaging modality of choice to evaluate soft tissue lesions. Whether MR imaging can be used to differentiate benign from malignant soft tissue lesions is still controversial. To elucidate this controversy, MR images of 37 patients with soft tissue masses of the musculoskeletal system were reviewed at Christchurch Hospital, New Zealand. METHO...
متن کاملAn Isolated Mass in the Palm, Starting Manifestation of Sarcoidosis
Sarcoidosis is a systemic disease that is characterized with noncaseating granulomatous nodules which present in multiple organs specially lungs (90%) . Incidence of masses due to Sarcoidosis in upper extremity is low and most cases present in association with involvement of pulmonary hilary lymph nodes. In this article we present a rare case of Sarcoidosis which presented as a single soft ti...
متن کاملReconstruction of the proximal humerus after extensive extraarticular resection for osteosarcoma: a report of two cases with clavicula pro humero reconstruction.
Two cases with clavicula pro humero reconstruction are described after extensive extraarticular wide resection of osteosarcoma due to the aggressive invasion, pre-operative pathological fracture, and relatively resistant to preoperative chemotherapy. Each patient had proximal humeral osteosarcoma and needed extraarticular resection. One necessitated more than two-third of humeral resection and ...
متن کاملDesign and Production of Two-Piece Thyroid-Neck Phantom by the Concurrent Use of Epoxy Resin and Poly(Methyl Methacrylate) Soft Tissue Equivalent Materials
The aim of this report is to present a new two-piece thyroid-neck phantom produced by the concurrent use of epoxy resin and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA: plexiglass) soft tissue equivalent materials. Accordingly, mass attenuation coefficients of the epoxy resin and the plexiglass compounds were obtained from simulation (NIST XCOM 3.1) and measurements (practical dosimetry) and compared to th...
